I never really thought of myself as a soccer mom, but here I am; MP3 is only 2 and going to practice, I'm driving an SUV (it's a hybrid, but still). Who knew!
Tonight was MP3's first soccer practice. That's right, you heard me, soccer practice. "But he's only two," you say. And I say, "eh, never too young." Actually, I really didn't expect him to do too much. He seems to be a bit more of an intellectual than one that runs around. But, I can't tell you enough how proud of him I am!!! It's a 4 week course with a very loose curriculum. It's more like they give you some ideas and you do whatever you want with them. But, I have to say, Michael listened to them during instruction (for the most part) and really tried to do most of it. I mean really concentrated and tried! As soon as we entered the gym, he went right for the net and started kicking the ball into it. He LOVED dribbling the ball! He liked the challenge of trying to walk on the balance beam (which was wavy). He didn't so much get into the whole stopping the ball thing. In fact when I said, "Freeze" - the word they used to put your foot on the ball and stop it, he replied, "Michael do green light" - the phrase they used to run fast or dribble fast. He had just so much fun, did so well, and was so glad he got to do it with his friends and his dad. I just can't say enough good things about it!!! Here are some pics/video I took tonight.
He got right down to business. He already knows sports are all about scoring.
Then he knocked over the cones.
Okay, so it wasn't from so far away, but it's better than when he plays bowling. When he bowls, he touches the ball to the pins before he rolls it.
Balance Beam (I really didn't think he would get it or be interested. But, check him out!)
I love how he tried to kick the ball out of the way at the end of the beam.
GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL
And now the Beam by himself.
They were told to try to keep the balloon off the floor using any part of their body. Watch his face after the first time he throws it. He kept thinking that the ball would just hit him in the head no matter where it was. He didn't quite get the concept but was too cute anyway.
Ready for my handstamp!
Little worried about those handstamps smearing.
That's a great shirt and all, Dada, but how are my handstamps doing?

Look at this crew!
Ben, Benji, MP3, and Oly
There's those smiles!
Where did everybody go? What? No more pictures?
