Chewbacca Is A Droid

This post is was actually written by the one and only Dada.  It is about his adventure that is bed time two nights ago.  Please enjoy.  I know I did!

So I’m giving Michael his bath and in his bath he has some Star Wars bath toys: Yoda, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, a Clone Trooper, C3PO and R2D2. All of a sudden Michael looks up at me and says “Chewbacca is a droid.” Now where in the world this little boy learned about the word “droid” escapes me. I may have mentioned it once, if that even. Of course, being the good father that I am and not wanting my son to be unclear about the correct classification of Star Wars characters I explain to him, “Chewbacca is not a droid, Chewbacca is a Wookie.” Of course Michael finds this hysterical and ladies and gentlemen we’ve found our game for the night.
“Chewbacca is a droid.”, laughs Michael.
“Chewbacca is not a droid, Chewbacca is a Wookie.”, corrects Dada. “Droids typically have numbers in their names, like R2D2, C3PO, 21B, IG88 or R5D4 and they usually have lights on them, although Darth Vader has lights on his chest but he’s not a droid.”
Michael finds this again hysterical and retorts with the following: “Coffeehouse Live”, I guess I should have seen that coming, touché Michael, touché.
Now, I’m wondering where in the world he pulls  “coffeehouse live” from and what this has to do with Star Wars, but the diversion to an acoustic XM channel didn’t last long as he again says, “Chewbacca is a droid” .

Well as the bath and post bath activities went on we kept up this conversation, back and forth. You see Michael likes to repeat himself, I wonder where he got that from.  Anyway, when I put him on the changing table he says, “Let’s talk about this again. Chewbacca is a droid, Chewie.” As I am impressed by him remembering Chewbacca’s nickname, I again explain the intricacies of the Star Wars characters to him as he helps me by chiming in with “Lights” and “Numbers” in case I have forgotten my own explanation.
So we read our bedtime story (not Star Wars related) and now we are ready for the crib. I’m wondering if the debate has ended, but as I approach the crib he says, “Let’s talk about this in the crib, Chewbacca is a droid. GB is a droid.” (By the way GB is short for GB Nuffin, Michael’s Star Wars build a bear, who resides in Michael’s crib.)
Dada, “GB is not a droid, GB is a bear.”
Michael, “GB is a bear. Chewbacca is a Wookie.”
Dada, “That’s right Michael you are very smart.”

GB is a bear, Chewbacca is a Wookie, and Dada is one proud father.

Soccer? Really?

The next few posts will be backwards in time.  I've had some problems with my computer and want to get some of these things down while they are still fresh in my mind.  I'll start with tonight.

I never really thought of myself as a soccer mom, but here I am;  MP3 is only 2 and going to practice, I'm driving an SUV (it's a hybrid, but still).  Who knew!

Tonight was MP3's first soccer practice.  That's right, you heard me, soccer practice.  "But he's only two," you say.  And I say, "eh, never too young."  Actually, I really didn't expect him to do too much.  He seems to be a bit more of an intellectual than one that runs around.  But, I can't tell you enough how proud of him I am!!!  It's a 4 week course with a very loose curriculum.  It's more like they give you some ideas and you do whatever you want with them.  But, I have to say, Michael listened to them during instruction (for the most part) and really tried to do most of it.  I mean really concentrated and tried!  As soon as we entered the gym, he went right for the net and started kicking the ball into it.  He LOVED dribbling the ball!  He liked the challenge of trying to walk on the balance beam (which was wavy).  He didn't so much get into the whole stopping the ball thing.  In fact when I said, "Freeze" - the word they used to put your foot on the ball and stop it, he replied, "Michael do green light" - the phrase they used to run fast or dribble fast.  He had just so much fun, did so well, and was so glad he got to do it with his friends and his dad.  I just can't say enough good things about it!!!  Here are some pics/video I took tonight.

He got right down to business.  He already knows sports are all about scoring.

Then he knocked over the cones.

Okay, so it wasn't from so far away, but it's better than when he plays bowling.  When he bowls, he touches the ball to the pins before he rolls it.

Balance Beam (I really didn't think he would get it or be interested.  But, check him out!)
I love how he tried to kick the ball out of the way at the end of the beam.

GOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL

And now the Beam by himself.

They were told to try to keep the balloon off the floor using any part of their body.  Watch his face after the first time he throws it.  He kept thinking that the ball would just hit him in the head no matter where it was.  He didn't quite get the concept but was too cute anyway.

Ready for my handstamp!

Little worried about those handstamps smearing.

That's a great shirt and all, Dada, but how are my handstamps doing?

Look at this crew!
Ben, Benji, MP3, and Oly

There's those smiles!

Where did everybody go?  What?  No more pictures?
